When we were younger (just after the Earth came into being) using a physical map was necessary, it meant you could get to your destination, without getting lost. I would go as far as to say it was a necessity.
While driving north through Thailand on our honeymoon, a while ago, @ingridlotze navigated using three road maps and a compass because all three maps were inaccurate, in their own special way.
Time travel to September 2022 and we’re in Laos (excuse my incorrect pronunciation, we had just arrived and I hadn’t yet spent time on orthoepy of Laotion words) and I thought that our map of Cambodia and Laos would be helpful. It really wasn’t.
Yeah for Google Maps and all that it offers in immediacy, detail, landmarks and directions.
Bummed at giving up that paper map with so many memories attached and stoked to be able to benefit from tech, in such a simple and useful way.
