Our view of Jaipur

After 11 months of travel it's a joy to reflect on the landscapes outside the windows of each of the places we’ve stayed. We have spent much time choosing where to stay. I mean hours and hours scouring a variety of websites like booking.com, Agoda, AirBnb etc.
Obviously the mainstay of search has been used extensively and the challenge is that Google is no longer about the user and is instead focussed on the advertiser and those who rock at SEO. It’s not unusual to be forced to click through to page 3 or 4 to find something worthwhile. Google search is no longer the de facto way for us to gather intel on cities either as the engine is more of a broad sword approach whereas we’re looking for something a little more scalpel-like. Now, ChatGPT on the other hand …..
After these many hours of searching we have been fortunate to end up of with a few phenomenal views, some of the sea and more often of a cityscape. There is a lot to be said for a city or town view as it gives you a feel for the place, particularly if you are on the 3rd floor or above.
This is the view from the 3rd floor apartment that was home for a week in Jaipur. It’s not the average rooftop view as we stayed in a quieter area that was a little more upper-middle class than most.
Nevertheless a great view. Not sure it quite captures the little shrine 10 metres from our doorstep, or the two cows lowing in the yard across the road, or the kids who played cricket every afternoon, or the vegetable walla who walked the street each day or the food that the neighbours dropped off for the cows every morning.
It’s just a video, unable to show what we felt, smelt, saw, experienced and shared with one another.
It’s a view, a window into city life in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Albeit a narrow view.
Our nomad / work / lifestyle pays off in so many ways and the views we have, will always be treasured.
