365 days a nomad

Yesterday was exactly a year of nomad life. There have been 25 different beds, and 24 flights, in 52 weeks.

For ingrid it has been 365 days without nail polish and for Gavin 365 days without a bicycle.

We have learned so much, seen more than imagined, grown more than expected and we’re happier out of SA than in it.

We've had five or six days with disagreements, which means 360 days of either agreeing or compromising - mostly happily.

We've had Covid twice, Gavin has had an ear infection thrice, and we've not had diarrhea at all.

We’ve seen birds, reptiles, and insects on the menu but mostly eaten vegetarian and we’ve made new friends in nearly every place we’ve lived.

There have been 25 different pillows and pot sets, and 25 different ways of doing laundry. 24 airport security checks and the same number of reminders of how to release your seat buckle on a plane.

Whilst it may not sound like a lot to some, it is a lot when we’re maintaining work standards, family and friend connections, and volunteering as if nothing has changed.

Everything changed and we loved it.
